I’ve been using Timepage for about two months. I really wanted to like the app based on positive reviews from influential Apple followers. There are really only three things that make Timepage better / different than the stock iOS Calendar app: a “cute” user interface; the option to use Google Maps for directions; and a Daily Briefing.
Timepage’s user interface is different from Calendar, but the only aspect I found better than Calendar’s input methods was Timepage’s use of a “slider” to set event times. It really is slick and a good, fast way to set times.
Apple Maps has greatly improved since its launch, but there are still locations it gets wrong, so it’s nice that Timepage gives the user the option to use Google Maps for directions to an event location. It came in handy on one recent occasion when Apple Maps took me to the wrong spot.
The Daily Briefing recently introduced is a nice feature poorly executed. It pops up as a notification at 9 AM, and that time is not user-selectable. If it is, I can’t find a setting for it, and my emailed question using the in-app help feature has remained unanswered. So I can only surmise that the default time cannot be changed. Having the Daily Briefing pop up at 9 AM is really a nuisance, not a help.
There are times when Timepage is slow to respond to a user tap, which can be confusing. Did I mis-tap? Did the app freeze? This is really only a minor annoyance though.
In summary, I am going back to the iOS Calendar app as its behavior is more predictable, and it meets my needs. I might give Timepage another try if it is updated, particularly if the Daily Briefing adds user selectability.
